And what—or who—is Sideralis?
Sideralis is the name La Estrella has given to our community of light. It is a word created to describe everything crowned by the stars and to remind us that we are part of an immense cosmic order.
Etymologically, Sideralis comes from sidus—the root of sideris—meaning “star,” “constellation,” or “celestial body,” and the suffix -al / -alis, which indicates belonging or relationship.
Therefore, its literal and original meaning is “belonging to the stars,” “related to the celestial bodies,” or “coming from the stars.” In classical antiquity, when navigators and sages gazed at the night sky, everything belonging to the firmament was considered sideralis.
In astronomy, the term is used to measure time and space by taking the fixed stars in the background of the universe as an absolute reference point, rather than using the Sun or Earth. For example, the sidereal year is the exact amount of time it takes Earth to complete one full orbit around the Sun, measured in relation to a distant star. It lasts approximately 365 days, 6 hours, 9 minutes, and 10 seconds. The sidereal day, meanwhile, is the amount of time it takes Earth to rotate 360° on its axis in relation to the fixed stars. It lasts 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds—almost four minutes less than our 24-hour solar day.
From a metaphysical perspective, Sideralis evokes a connection with the highest cosmic energies, celestial guidance, destiny written in the firmament, and the influence that heavenly bodies exert as mirrors of our consciousness here on Earth.
In short, the name of our community, Sideralis, is a beautiful and profound term that reminds us that, both literally and spiritually, we all come from the same stellar origin. As Carl Sagan said—and as astrophysics has confirmed¹—“We are all made of stardust.”

¹ In 2017, a group of scientists from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey project analyzed the composition of more than 150,000 stars in our galaxy using spectroscopy—measuring the light they emit to determine which elements they contain. The results confirmed that the elements known as CHNOPS—carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur—which account for 97% of the mass of the human body, are found at the heart of the stars in the Milky Way.
